Visceral Osteopathy is safe for all ages, including babies & during pregnancy.
Visceral Osteopathy
Visceral Osteopathy is a branch of osteopathic techniques which deal with the manual manipulation of the viscera (the organs), mainly within the abdomen.
Organs of the abdomen include: the liver, stomach, kidneys, intestines (bowel), bladder, pancreas, the ovaries & uterus.
The organs are soft, they are wrapped in fascia and attached to ligaments which then are attached to the spine and body cavities.
Due to this close connection, every time we move or breathe, the viscera mobilizes within the abdomen.
Treatment via visceral osteopathy aims to improve visceral health & mobility.
Visceral ‘mobility’ is how well the organs can move, contract & release within the body cavity.
Musculoskeletal movement has a deep effect on visceral movement and vice versa.
When the viscera is unable to shift and move correctly the outcome can be stiffness, pain and/or bloating within the abdominal space, this could also result in pain in other areas of the body, such as the head, neck, shoulders and lower back.
Visceral Osteopathy safe for ALL ages & also during pregnancy.
Here at the clinic, Aydan uses a particular method of Visceral adjustment called:
Visceral Vibrational Adjustment
Visceral vibrational adjustment (VVA) is an ancient form of natural healing through a special abdominal massage technique. It works with the body’s self-healing, self-regulating mechanisms.
It is gentle, non-invasive and can be used at any age, from newborns onwards.
VVA involves relaxation of the internal organs, softening of any adhesions and resetting the organs back into their correct place if necessary. It also involves releasing the various diaphragms that are often chronically contracted as a consequence of stress, which in turn affects the blood vessels and nerves passing through them, including those to the internal organs. Restoring normal circulation and nerve flow allows the organs to function more efficiently.
The internal organs are worked on by way of vibration applied by the hands. As a result it is gentler but can ultimately be deeper than massage. The abdomen is viewed as a “keyboard” to interact with our biological system. The work is done not only with the physical body but also with one’s mental, emotional and energetic aspects. Every organ is associated with a specific emotion so working on the organs may assist in processing, releasing or integrating certain emotional states.
As part of a holistic approach to health, VVA does not treat isolated conditions but is a way of stimulating the body’s natural self-healing mechanisms by removing the obstacles to their full health.
Since everything in the body exists and functions as part of one system, many states can benefit from VVA including (but not limited to) the following:
Digestive issues
Urinary dysfunction
Gynaecological issues (menstrual and reproductive dysfunction)
Post-surgical adhesions
Chronic stress
Low energy
